Andy spoke to the media after the game.

“It was a hugely disappointing second half, especially conceding a goal so quickly after the restart.

“At half time we decided to put more pressure on them and to try and suffocate the balls into their strikers but before we could put our plan into action they played a good ball down the side. Freddie produced a great save but we did not react to the second ball and they go one up within a couple of minutes.

“Hibs then get another a short time after and it killed us.

“I felt the whole game we struggled to create anything. I thought going forward we were pretty limp if I am being honest. I did not think there was the normally energy an Aberdeen team has going forward which was sad to see.

“It was the type of performance we don’t produce too often. Hopefully it is one we can put behind us and move on.

“It is not ideal because it is a huge couple of weeks for us coming up. We know if we got the win today it would have extended the gap between ourselves and Hibs. Now we have Celtic next weekend, so we have to dust ourselves down and prepare ourselves for that.

“When you have Graeme Shinnie in midfield he is the first one who is snapping into tackles and getting into people’s faces. I felt when we played them at home Graeme was playing that day and we got in their faces and did not let them play. He played very well in that game. Today we gave them too much respect and too much time on the ball, when they were playing forward especially. So Graeme was a miss but we cannot use that as an excuse. The way the manager has recruited, we have enough players to fill that space. We should be able to handle that.

“It was a real sore one to take.

“We have always bounced back after defeats and to do it on a big stage on Sunday would be ideal. We just need to dust ourselves down and get ourselves going again on Monday. We have to look at where we can improve.

“I think since the Rangers game we have done pretty well. So today was difficult to explain. We just never got going and were poor going forward. We looked tired and almost not up for it, which I can assure you was certainly not the case as it was a huge game. We did not match their energy levels.

“The Celtic game will be a test of character. It will be a very tough game, we know that, but a result would put right what happened today.”
