Frank Ross has this morning agreed to sign a one year contract extension with Aberdeen FC.

The 19 year old at the same time has also joined Greenock Morton on a development loan and will play for the Championship side during the rest of the 2017/18 season to help him gain more first team experience.

The AFC Youth Academy graduate this season has made four appearances for the first team, three of which have been from the bench and the midfielder also started his first game for the club in the 1-0 win over Dundee at the start of December at Dens Park. Frank made his first team debut at the same ground back in May 2015.

The Ellon born youngster, who has represented Scotland at U19 level, scored his first senior goal against Rangers with a brilliant free-kick and has now in total made 12 appearances for Aberdeen.

For the U20s this year he has appeared 13 times and scored six goals, helping the Dons youngsters to second place in the Development League table at the half way point of their season and Paul Sheerin’s side are also through to the Quarter Finals of the SFA Youth Cup.

Manager Derek McInnes commented, “We’re delighted at the level of club that Frank is joining, the Championship is extremely competitive and he’ll be working with Jim Duffy who has taken players from here in the past. While we’d have liked him to contribute this season, we’ve got to look at the bigger picture and Frank will benefit from regular football that will see him better prepared for the demands of playing for Aberdeen. We’re also delighted that Frank has signed a contract extension and we’re really looking forward to seeing how he gets on at Morton.”

Everyone at Pittodrie wishes Frank well during his stay at Cappielow.
