Goalkeeper Joe Lewis spoke to RedTV after the game this afternoon against Motherwell:

“We were nowhere near it.

“During my time at the club we have had very few performances like that, but that does not excuse what happened today.

“I think we have to have a good look at ourselves and look at individual performances and think how we can do better.

“There are not many players in that dressing room who can come out with any credit. Maybe Ryan Christie who tried to get on the ball and tried to make something happen. I can’t think of anyone else who can get any real credit in that game.

“They (Motherwell) were at it from the word go. It did not surprise us. We spoke all week about their intensity and how they play. We stepped over that white line as a group of players and did not perform.

“We cannot have any excuses with that performance. It was very poor and we need to put it right next week.

“As a player you do not sleep well after a result and performance like that. The lads and hurting and we need to show a response. We will have to put in a lot of work at training to get that performance out of our system and to make sure come Sunday we are at it.

“Kilmarnock got a point here last time. Also it is not an easy place to go with the pitch. We have to play the conditions as well looking at their strengths and weaknesses. They are a different side under their new manager to what they were previously.

“We need to improve drastically on today.”
