Andrew was captain on the side today. After the game he spoke to RedTV:

“I felt from the kick off we were not at it today. We were slow and nowhere near the second balls. They were winning a lot of headers.

“We knew what to expect from Motherwell as we have played them twice already. They have both been very tough games. We knew that they would put balls into the channels to try and turn us. We knew that was coming but we did not manage to deal with it for the first ten to fifteen minutes.

“I felt we grew into the game a bit after that although they had a couple of chances.

“Then the first goal we conceded was a very soft one. It is a long free kick that has come into the box from about forty yards. A very soft goal to give away.

“Second half we started off ok but could not create anything. I don’t think we had a shot on target. For a team like us and the calibre of players that we have got, it is not good enough.

“We just never seemed to get to grips with the game. For a team who is in second spot, we can not afford to have off days like today. We are very lucky other results, apart from the Celtic one, did go our way today. It keeps us second but as I say it was not good enough.

“I know my own performances have not been what I would want this season. I need to get back to the level I was playing at last season to get back into the side week in week out. I need to get that consistency back into my game.

“I am delighted to have now moved up to sixth spot on the all-time list (above Russell Anderson) and to wear the captain’s armband was a special moment. As a kid it is something you dream of. It was a fantastic moment to lead the boys out, but it is a massive slap in the face not to get a result. And to have played as badly as that.”
