September Vattenfall Award Winner | Tracey McGorrin
The Vattenfall Award of the Month recognises outstanding commitment to the girls’ game from an individual, whether that be a player, coach or volunteer.
The winner of this award for September is Tracey McGorrin, coach at Dyce Girls FC.
On the announcement of this award, fellow Dyce Girls coach, David Anderson, said “Tracy is present at absolutely everything possible for Dyce Girls, including PCS nights, training, coach education courses, committee meetings, matches and developing the structure of the Club. She doesn’t miss a thing, undertakes several roles with Dyce Boys Club and is always striving for equality for the girls.
“Most of us coaches are involved for selfish reasons; our daughter plays. However, Tracey does it for each and every one of the girls at the Club with a passion to go and see them enjoy the sport and succeed.”
Joanne Murphy, Scottish FA Girls & Women’s Club Development Officer for the North Region, also recognised the dedication Tracey has shown over the past couple years.
“Tracey has been heavily involved since the beginning of Dyce Girls back in April early 2015. For me, what makes Tracey stand out is her commitment to these girls, attending weekly training and games, committee meetings, trips to Scotland games and generally just making sure everything is in order for these girls to get the best possible experiences in sport.
“The passion, motivation and dedication Tracey shows towards developing girls football, allowing them to access a level playing field is admirable and she is a worthy winner of this award.”
The AFCCT North Region Girls Football League has grown considerably since AFC Community Trust has come on board to run the weekly activity, with an increase in the number of teams, clubs and players involved at all age groups.
The close partnership between AFCCT & the Scottish FA North Region has been crucial to this early success and it is coaches like Tracey who make this growth possible – thanks and well done from everyone here at Aberdeen FC Community Trust!
