STEVIE MAY JOINS ON FOUR YEAR DEAL

DEREK GETS HIS MAN AS STEVIE JOINS ON FOUR YEAR CONTRACT

Aberdeen have this evening confirmed the signing of striker Stevie May on a four year contract from Preston North End.

The 24 year old, who has one senior international cap, was given his first team debut by Derek McInnes as a 16 year old at St. Johnstone, as a substitute against Airdrie United in May 2009, and went on to make close to 80 appearances for the Perth side, as well as enjoying successful loan spells at Alloa Athletic and Hamilton Academical, before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in August 2014 and then to Preston in January of the following year.

Stevie, who has been allocated squad number 83, says he was determined to be reunited with the man who gave him his first team debut, “The manager has made no secret about trying to get me in the past, which is flattering, and it’s good to finally get the deal done which I think is right for both parties and I just can’t wait to get started.”

Derek McInnes added, “I’m obviously delighted to get Stevie on board and he’s a player I’ve enjoyed working with in the past and have been keen to work with again. To get a 24 year old international player on a four year deal is a great piece of business by the Club and I’d like to thank the Board for their assistance in making it happen.”

The Scotland international will be introduced to the media tomorrow and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s visit to Ross County, subject to clearance.
