Nicky Maynard | Press Conference

Nicky Maynard Press Conference

Nicky's first press conference as a Dons player:

“It is exciting. I am really looking forward to being an Aberdeen player.

“We were in talks for a few days and it is one of them that you know it is going to happen but it is always a good feeling when you get it over the line.

“I am looking forward to the season ahead.

“I am reunited with Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty. Working with the gaffer was a major factor in me coming to Scotland.

“We weren’t together for that long at Bristol because I moved on to West Ham but the time we were together I enjoyed. They know what is best for me and how to get the best out of me. I firmly believe they will help me kick on again.

“It is always good to work with someone you have already worked with instead of going into the unknown if you like. I know what to expect and how they work.

“As a player when you have a manager who believes in you, it is a big thing. It gives you confidence. You know that he will have your back no matter what. I need to repay that faith though by going out and doing the business.

“Aberdeen as a club have come on a long way now under Derek and Tony. They are now a side who are up challenging at the top of the table and challenging for honours. Also they are a side who are qualifying regularly for Europe.

“I have never had the chance to play in Europe before. As a footballer it is something you always want to add to your CV.

“I am just looking forward to playing for Aberdeen and putting the shirt on and hopefully scoring as many goals as possible.

“I know quite a bit about the game in Scotland. I am quite a close friend of Joe Lewis. He has been talking to me about Aberdeen and how good it is and how good the fans are.

“I am looking for to it and hopefully we can have a successful season.

“I am still a striker who is very hungry to do well and score goals. I am a player who will always get shots off whenever I can. I am a player who wants to score as many goals as possible.”
