Red Army Display Volunteers Thank You Evening

21 June 2017

To show the Club’s appreciation for their hard work and dedication, volunteers who helped with the fantastic Scottish Cup Final display were invited in to Pittodrie this week for a reception to say thank you for their efforts.

More than 70 volunteers headed to Hampden 24 hours early to set up a display which stole the show prior to kick-off on the 27th May.

Avid Dons supporter Kyle Hewitt was in attendance to present Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) with their cheque of £2,170.34 after setting himself the challenge of walking the 140 miles to Glasgow from Pittodrie for the Final.

An original target of £1,500 was set with profits to be divided equally between the Red Army Displays Fund and AFCCT, however after an overwhelming amount of support received the target was quickly surpassed.

The Red Army Display Team were delighted to have their costs covered and had the remaining proceeds donated to the Community Trust.

In addition, the Red Army Display Team raised funds by auctioning off a Niall McGinn top with proceeds split equally between the Aberdeen FC Youth Development and the display fund.

Matt Coull, Brian Caruana and Mark Reid from the Red Army Display Team were also delighted to present AFC and AFCCT with the limited edition prints of the display.

Lynn Fiske, Aberdeen FC Supporter Liaison Officer said, “We are hugely appreciative of the efforts everyone made to put on such a fantastic and memorable display and for their continued support and dedication to the Club.

“I look forward to strengthening my relationship with the Display Team and having the Club and supporters working closer together.”
