Tansey signs pre-contract agreement

Aberdeen FC can this morning confirm Greg Tansey has signed a pre-contract agreement with the club.

The Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder will officially become an Aberdeen player on the 9th of June 2017, joining the club on a three year deal.

The 28 year old, who is originally from Merseyside, started his career at Stockport County, progressing through the youth system before making his first-team debut in 2006. He joined Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2011, making 39 appearances during his first spell with the club. Having spent time with English League One side Stevenage, Greg returned to the Highlands for a second spell.

The midfielder, who can cover several different roles, has to date during his second spell in Inverness played 142 times and scored on 24 occasions.

Manager Derek McInnes was delighted to secure the signing of Greg. “He is a player we have admired for a long time and he will be a very welcome addition to the squad here at Pittodrie.

“He is a confident player, exactly the type of player we want to see at our club. There is more to come from Greg and I’m sure we will provide the perfect platform for him to develop.”
