“It was looking like being one of those days but again we have shown great character to get the late goal.

“It is a good quality to have in your team.

“You can’t coach that. To keep going to the end to get the goal, we kept believing we could get it.

“We probably should have scored early as we had quite a number of chances but credit to Motherwell, they defended well and put their bodies on the line. They are fighting for their lives at the other end of the table and it is hard for them conceding in the dying minutes but that is football and we take the three points and move on.

“Kenny was outstanding this afternoon and he has played a cross field pass that led to the goal. Jonny has then played it into the box and found Niall who made a good run and he has stuck it away.

“All the lads are performing really well at the moment. Results don’t lie. We have been on a good run now, even although we lost against Hamilton and Celtic. Every other game we have won. We are also in a semi-final of another cup, made the final of the league cup, so it has not been a bad season.

“We happy to get the win today and we move on to next week.

“I have not been playing but that is part and parcel of football. I was taken out of the team at the end of December. Since then the team has gone on an unbelievable run and it is hard for the manager to change a winning team. That is football. You have just to bide your time, wait for your chance again and get on with things. I was happy to come back into the side today and put in a good performance, pick up where I left off. I felt it was a solid performance and I helped the side get a clean sheet. That is my job.

“Hopefully I have done enough to stay in the team but everyone is fighting to get into the side. Every day in training is very competitive. it is healthy competition and that will only drive us on to be better players.

“It is always good to have a good squad. You see that with players coming off the bench every week. People are changing games.”
