Graeme Shinnie Post Match on RedTV
Graeme Shinne
“A very good afternoon’s work.
“It was a very tough game. The body is aching now. It was always going to be like that. We knew that with Partick Thistle having four wins on the bounce. They were well up for it and we had to be up for it as well.
“I thought we created some good chances but the game was scrappy at times. We battled when we had to and luckily we have come out on top.
“As soon as Niall played the ball into me and I had taken a touch I decided there was only one thing that I was going to do. To be fair we practice from those areas every day in training. We practice cutting in from both sides.
“It is something I have been doing in training, scoring from those positions, but it has not been coming off in games. It was very nice for it to come off today!
“I thought we managed to game well. We limited them to very few chances. With us being 1-0 up it would have been stupid for us to push too hard for another goal. In a cup game and winning 1-0 it is all that you need. We were a little bit fortunate at the end with Osman’s header which was disappointing (the defending) from our view point but apart from that chance I thought we were solid throughout and battled when we needed to.
“The semi-final will be a massive occasion and especially for me personally as I will be facing my brother. It is great for the family and great for Andrew and myself.
“When the game comes around we will both have our game heads on. When the game gets going, he's just a normal person. I know he will have the same mind set. He's a brother before and after but during the game he's just another person. Before and after we can look at it and it will be a great experience for us both. It is something that when our careers are finished we can look back on.
“Growing we never played with each other or against each other as we were in different age groups. Andrew is two years older than me. But when we were younger we would go out and play football in the garden together as brothers do. It will be slightly different playing at Hampden though compared with the family garden!
“I have only faced him once and that was in a friendly when I was at Inverness and he was at Birmingham. He came on in the second half. Even that was a good experience. To have us meeting again at Hampden Park in a cup semi-final will be something very special.
“We did not have any one to one clashes in that game but I am sure we will have this one!
“I spoke to my Mum and Dad there, so at least they'll have one son in the final! Maybe my mum will support me and my dad will support him!
“There was no easy draw when it comes down to the last four of a competition. They are obviously the holders of the cup and they will not want to let go of it.
“Hibs are a massive club with a massive following. I know that from Andrew’s time and watching his games. It is two big clubs coming together. It will be a great occasion.”
