Adam Rooney "It's a good place to be at the moment"

“The two we conceded aside, it was an excellent performance and we could scored more. Their keeper has made
a couple of great saves. We could not ask for any more.

“For the first one Jonny has tried to hook it across and the ball has come back to him. I tried my best to miss it! I then got the penalty and a tap in for my hat-trick. I am not quite sure how the last one went in. It has come across and missed everyone and thankfully hit my foot and gone in. I won’t complain.

“Ryan has scored a wonderful goal. He did something similar in training one day as well. He has that bit of class.

“I think Motherwell are the team I've scored more goals against than anyone else, before them it was Dundee.

“I am delighted to get a hat-trick tonight, and the win.

“I think we've threatened to do that a couple of times this season where we've put in strong performances and we've maybe not taken all the chances we could of, unfortunately for them they were on the wrong end of it tonight.

“We're on a good run at the minute, I think that's eight in the last nine we've won and the only points we dropped were away at Celtic. We're confident going into games and we knew that with the game in hand. We said before the last couple of games we had a big week coming up with a couple of league games, we could go three points clear into second and get into the next round of the cup – thankfully we've done that.

“It's a good place to be at the moment, hopefully we can keep building.

“It's definitely the biggest win I've been involved in here, we've had a few 4-0 wins at Pittodrie. When we get early goals here we tend to kick on. Sometimes we dominate first halves and don't get the goal and it becomes a bit more difficult.

“I think tonight everything we hit looked like it was going in, even big Ash Taylor nearly put one in!!

“I think the manager has stuck with the same team for the last nine games, apart from tonight where Shinnie came out. Perhaps that's the secret, get him out of the team!

“There's been lads pushing, Jayden has done excellent coming in the last couple of weeks, Ryan got in tonight and did brilliantly as well. It's going to be a long haul to the end of the season and we've a lot of games to go. We need people fighting for positions so if it brings out performances like it did in all the lads tonight, then brilliant.”

“We have now got a lead in second spot but there is still a long way to go and a lot of points still up for grabs.

“We are on a good run and the confidence is up and the boys are looking good. We are playing at a high level but we have to make sure we don’t drop that now. We have to go down to Kilmarnock on Sunday and put in the same work rate.”
