“I was really pleased with the performance to be honest, I'm just disappointed that we haven't managed to get the first goal earlier.

“How Reynolds goal is chalked off I don't know, it's a perfectly valid goal in the first half. There's no infringement on the goalkeeper as the referee suggested.

“I thought we put them under a lot of pressure, I thought we really tried to bring a lot of pace and tempo to the game. We then get our goal through Ash Taylor, I thought it was a good header and thoroughly deserved.
“We were hoping for that second goal and then the referee gets involved. It's never a penalty, that's the second time this season against Hamilton.

“Joe's touched the ball twice, I think it's come off his leg and then his body. It's not a penalty, it's a bad decision.
“We reminded the players that at Hamilton we still had plenty of time to get the result going our way, and we did again today.

“We reminded the players at half time, don't let the fact that it was a poor decision stop us from winning the game. We've got to make sure we try and do our jobs well. It needed composure and confidence. I think we did that.

“I thought we were a bit wasteful at times, we needed to get that second goal. It was about making sure we played with tempo, energy and bravery to go and make things happen.

“I thought we rushed certain things. I thought we got into good areas. Jonny Hayes springs to mind two or three times and Kenny going through on goal.

“The goalkeeper pulls off a good save from Maddison, and Rooney scores half his goals like that following things in. While it was thoroughly deserved, I think at 2-1 you're never totally happy with that because you still feel Hamilton making a couple of changes could get them something from the game – but nobody could deny us that we didn't deserve to win that.

“We set up to try and win the game and I thought Hamilton were hanging in there for long spells. While they might be aggrieved (with the red card) I think they were lucky to get their penalty kick that actually gave them a lift into the game.

“Joe made a big save against Crawford. He has done that throughout the season for us. We were still adjusting to the changes that they had made and Crawford has found a bit of space in between us. Crawford has good quality so you are never relaxed when he got the ball near goal but thankfully we have a keeper who has won us a lot of points this season.

“I thought we were the better team. We were relentless with our pressure and the players deserve a lot of credit.”
