MacLeod, McLeish & Kennedy inducted into AFC Hall of Fame

13 November 2016

The latest AFC Hall of Fame event took place at Pittodrie this evening with Ally MacLeod, Stuart Kennedy and Alex McLeish taking their rightful place in our Hall of Fame!

Over 300 guests attended the event, which was sponsored by Rainbow City Taxis, and it was a memorable occasion for AFC supporters, sponsors and partners alike as three AFC legends were honoured.

Fittingly, our first inductee this evening was Ally MacLeod, almost 40 years to the day since he managed The Dons to the 1976 Scottish League Cup with a 2-1 victory over Celtic in the final at Hampden Park. We were honoured tonight to have members of Ally’s family present on his behalf to receive his award.

It is also fitting that one of Ally’s most shrewd signings and consistent performers, Stuart Kennedy, was recognised this evening. Arguably AFC’s greatest ever right back, Stuart played a huge part as Aberdeen built on that 1976 success to establish themselves as a leading force, not just in Scotland but throughout Europe in the early 80’s.

As the final inductee on the night Alex McLeish was also inducted, a man who served Aberdeen with real distinction and loyalty across three decades winning countless honours along the way. As one half of the most iconic central defensive pairing in Scottish football history Alex made over 700 appearances and is synonymous with the most successful years in the history of the club.

Thank you to everyone who attended, we look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!
