Post Match Reaction | Joe Lewis

29 October 2016

Joe Lewis, who produced one of the saves of the season this afternoon, as well as another couple of fine stops, spoke to RedTV after the game:

“I thought towards the end of the game we certainly deserved to get a goal. Craig Gordon has made a great save right at the death. I think if the ball goes a yard either side of him it is probably a goal. I thought overall they were hanging on at the end.

“Against a good team like Celtic they are going to have a few chances. But we also had one or two half chances. If you get one or two half chances, you need to take them when you're playing against good quality opposition.

“I don't get a chance to go up for corners often! I got close to one and we caused a bit of chaos in the box. Unfortunately one didn't drop for us and go in.

“You need a bit of luck sometimes in these games and need the ball to fall to you. I feel we did not get much of that today.

“Unfortunately it didn't fall for us today.

“I still think we can take a lot of positives from the game. I know it is a loss but there are positives to come from the match. We were on the front foot at the end and looked the more likely to get a goal.

“We now need to galvanise ourselves and go again. There is still a lot of confidence within the team. We have lost the last two now but I think the performance, especially second half shows we are a good team.

“Celtic are a good team and they were clever today. They know what you can get away with and what you can’t. They got the goal and had the right to slow it down. I think towards the end of the game they were hanging on a little bit. They tried to kill the game, which they did well.

“We cannot get too hung up on the result. It is very disappointing when you lose a game like that but we need to take the positives and move forward.

“We have two games before we play them again so we need to concentrate on those matches now.

“At the moment they are 10 points ahead, you can’t argue with that too much. We need to make sure that if they have a dip in form we are still in there.

“They've got a lot of games this season, they've got the European campaign as well so we need to be ready if they do take their eye off the ball in the league. We need to make sure we are right behind them. That's down to ourselves to be consistent against the other teams in the league.”
