RedTV new look site launched
A new look is being rolled out to RedTV as part of a series of upgrades to the site. Over many months the technical team at our service providers, SportsMediaGB have been working on improvements to the way the site works which will provide further resilience in the event of any issues.
Subscribers won’t need to do anything, all account details have been switched over to the new site however we would urge subscribers to log in ahead of Saturday’s match to avoid any potential issues with the login process on matchday. Should you encounter any problems please contact redtv@sportsmediagb.com with the details.
Please note that the new site make take up to 48 hours to appear in certain territories. This is normal as servers around the world catch up.
Watching games live in the UK
The club is aware of an increasing number of subscribers accessing RedTV International live match video content in the UK & Ireland. Please note that it is against the terms & conditions of use and using software to access this content can lead to poor picture quality and could potentially harm your computer.
Pubs showing games live via RedTV
We are aware of a number of pubs, particularly within the Aberdeen area showing games via RedTV. This is a major and harmful issue for the club.
We are currently in discussions with Police Scotland regarding this issue as it could have serious consequences.
The new site will make it easier for us to identify such users. Commercial premises suspected of accessing this content will have their account blocked and investigated.
Sadly, if these activities continue the club will be forced to review the quantity of home matches shown live on RedTV with the possibility that the service could be stopped.
We’ve listed some FAQ’s about RedTV below:
Why can’t RedTV broadcast more games?
At the moment we can show every home match and any game which is selected for live TV coverage by UK Broadcasters on RedTV International. We will always try to bring you as many games as possible however this is only possible where facilities can be provided to us. These games are always subject to SPFL/SFA Broadcast contracts which may prevent broadcast until a certain time and never allow us to broadcast within GB & Ireland.
Why does match action not appear for a while after a game?
As part of the broadcast conditions mentioned above, the club are bound by restrictions imposed by the SPFL/ SFA and any other competition as to when we are allowed to broadcast match footage in the UK & Ireland. For example, on a Saturday we can show a full match replay at 10pm but highlights and goal clips can’t be shown until midnight. This also varies if a match is live on TV. We will always bring you the action as soon as we possibly can.
Away matches bring a logistical issue for the RedTV team but again we will always do our best to bring you the action as soon as we possibly can.
Timings for RedTV International subscribers are different to those in the UK & Ireland.
I have had some issues with picture quality?
We have been made aware of an issue for international subscribers in Australia and the far-east where the picture appeared quite blurry during live matches. The site now contains an optional drop down menu to select streams of varying bandwidth to suit your connection.
What are the plans for the season?
Our magazine show RedInsider will be back with a new look in mid- September and we’ll have more behind-the scenes features than ever before, including more coverage of the Heritage Trust, Youth Academy & Community Trust.
We’ll have more interviews with former players and managers as well as the current squad and management team and of course RedTV remains the only place to get live coverage & reaction from every Aberdeen match, home and away.
As always we would be delighted to hear from you, your feedback is important to us. What features would you like to see on RedTV? Email redtv@afc.co.uk with your suggestions.
Don’t forget if you have any technical queries please email redtv@sportsmediagb.com.

The RedTV team would also like to thank to our broadcast partners: Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC ALBA, BBC Scotland, STV Solutions, Premier Sports & our service providers, SportsMediaGB for their continued help and assistance.
