AFC Glasgow Supporters Club looks for new players for all positions for the forthcoming 2016/17 season

Red Stars Baagrade (Red Stars), Glasgow’s only Aberdeen Supporters football team, are looking to recruit new talent to its playing squad for the coming season. Established in 2009, Red Stars are currently plying their trade in the Scottish Sunday Central Amateur Football League, playing against other amateur team across the Central Belt.

With the start of the season kicking off on Sunday 14 August Manager Greg Dixie is keen to add some experience to the team, and slots are still available for all positions. Based in Glasgow’s West End, the team trains Thursday evenings and plays its fixtures on Sunday afternoons.

Red Stars were founded by Stuart Hay when he moved down from Aberdeen to Glasgow for University with the purpose of bringing together like-minded Aberdeen fans. This inclusiveness is something Stuart was keen to highlight. “Over the past seven years we have had over 100 people pull on the famous red jersey and take the field as a Red Star. Whether they have recently moved down for University, started a new job, or have always been based in and around Glasgow, our supporters club has acted as a bastion for all things Aberdeen in the West of Scotland.”

“As an Aberdeen supporters club based in Glasgow we have a limited pool of potential players to reach out to so it is important that we continue to raise awareness of our club to ensure that any dandies who live in the area are aware of the team. We hope today’s message is received loud and clear, and that anyone who is looking for a team to play for this season gets in touch with us.”

Entry to the team is not just restricted to Aberdeen supporters. In fact Red Stars have had a diverse range of players in the past play for the team including guys from Finland, Denmark, Russia, Nigeria, Wales, and even an Albion Rovers fan. The team is also open to all age’s ranges from 16 right up to 50.
