Chris Antoniazzi joins Aberdeen

04 July 2016

Aberdeen have this afternoon re-signed Chris Antoniazzi.

The Scotland youth international was originally part of the AFC Youth Academy before moving to Celtic. However, the attacking midfielder has decided his future lies at Pittodrie and the 16-year-old has signed a professional contract with Aberdeen.

Chris will be part of Paul Sheerin’s U20 squad this season and will join up with his new team mates immediately.

Paul Sheerin told afc.co.uk: “We are all looking forward to welcoming Chris to the squad tomorrow. As he played before with a number of the boys in the Youth Academy such as Seb Ross and Joe MacPherson I am sure he will settle in very quickly and hit the ground running. Chris is an exciting prospect.”

The Development side are in Lisbon for their pre-season campaign. On Friday night they played the Portuguese national U19 side. Aberdeen lost 3-0 which was a very respectable effort considering the quality of the opposition.

Paul added: “It was a very very good experience for the boys. Everyone was involved apart from Bruce Anderson who missed the end of last season through injury. It was just a couple of days too early for him but Bruce will hopefully be involved in our remaining games.”

The U20s play AC Alcanenense on Tuesday evening before finishing their pre-season camp with a game against Benfica on Friday night.

Finally, everyone at AFC wishes Chris well on his return to The Dons.
