Europa League Qualifying Draw Info
Aberdeen have been drawn against CS Fola Esch in the 2016/17 UEFA Europa League First Round Qualifying Round.
The Club can confirm that the first leg of this tie will take place on Thursday 30th June here at Pittodrie with the reverse fixture being held on the 7th of July.
Full ticket details for both matches will follow shortly.
The Dons will play their first ever competitive fixture in Luxembourg against a Fola side who took part in last season’s Champions League Qualifiers, but were knocked out in the second round to GNK Dinamo on aggregate.
Fola also took part in the Europa League Qualifiers in both 2011-12 and 2014-15. Both occasions saw them lose out in the first round to Swedish teams IF Elfsborg and IFK Goteborg respectfully.
Fola were formed in 1906 and play at the Stade Emile Mayrisch, Esch-sur Alzette which has a capacity of 3,900, however they play all their UEFA ties out of the Stade Josy Barthel, which is home to the Luxembourg national side.
The winner of the first round tie will go on to face either FK Ventspils (Latvia) or Vikingur Gota (Faroe Islands) in the second round of qualifying. The second round ties will take place on the 14th and 21st of July. Should The Dons make it through then the home tie is scheduled to be on 14th July, with the away leg being 21st July.
