AFCCT matchday round-up

29 February 2016

On Saturday The Dons took on St Johnstone at Pittodrie and there was plenty of activity off away from the pitch to add to the action on it!

Our first ever Senior Matchday Club took place on Saturday at ASV and ran alongside our Junior Matchday Club from 1-2pm. Participants from both activities are pictured above.

The Senior Matchday Club has been developed following the success of Junior Matchday Club and combines football activity at ASV pre-match with a ticket to watch the match at Pittodrie.

Keep an eye out for more information on our Senior Matchday Club programme ahead of our next home match against Kilmarnock on Saturday 12th March.

On the pitch at half-time we had a skills display from children who attend the AFC Community Trust skills development Advance Centres. The Advance Centres look to develop 1v1 individual skills, and give young players an opportunity to improve their technical ability by receiving extra skills coaching on a weekly basis. The Advance Centre programme has proved to develop a pathway into the AFC Youth Academy, with a number of players who have been through the Advance Centre programme now on the verge of playing for the Aberdeen first team.

AFCCT currently supports young volunteers through their Saltire Awards. A number of volunteers made their way onto the pitch on Saturday to receive awards in recognition of the time they have volunteered. Ernest Gaza & Hannah Watson received their 100 Hour Saltire Award while Aimee Spalding, Fraser Burnett & Kieran Henderson received their 200 hour Award.
