AFCCT receives Space Solutions donation following Joe Harper's Golf Day
Dons legend Joe Harper recently held his annual charity golf event and just over £11,500 was raised on the day. As always the event is very well supported by the local business community and is proving to be such a popular event on the golfing calendar it even has a waiting list. A total of 22 teams took part in this year’s event held at Craibstone Golf Club. The event is also attended by some former professional footballers who give up their time in support and to play on the day.
This year’s beneficiaries are Calico, a charity dedicated to Cancer and Leukaemia in Children Orientated – Grampian and Aberdeen FC Community Trust, a charity delivering community programmes and initiatives across the North East of Scotland. The charities are chosen by competitors ‘drawn from a hat’ at the event and this year Brian Russell of Riverside Construction nominated Calico while AFCCT was nominated by Mark Wilson of Space Solutions.
Joe said, “I know that a lot of businesses in the northeast have been having a tough time lately and myself and the committee thought this year would be tough but the sum raised was almost 20% up on last year! it's remarkable. We had a fantastic day and as usual the weather was kind to us. The champions on the day were the team from Riverside Construction but the real winners are the chosen charities. Once again I'd like to thank the teams and former players and colleagues who have supported this year’s event”.
A cheque for £5,750 was presented to AFC Community Trust representative, Russell Anderson, at Pittodrie Stadium
