Statoil August Award Winners

16 September 2015

Statoil is now the exclusive Aberdeen Football Club ‘Talent Partner’ with the emphasis specifically on the future development of elite youth players through the AFC Youth Academy. The Statoil “Heroes of Tomorrow” sponsorship concept supports talented young people, not just in sport but also in culture and education to help them achieve their ambitions.

The Statoil Young Talent and Talent of the Month awards are awarded to players who show an exceptionally high standard of talent during academy training sessions and matches at club and international level.
For the month of August the winners were:

COREY GERRARD
YOUNG TALENT OF THE MONTH
Corey’s performances with the Under 12s against teams such as Bayer Leverkusen, Genk, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord, along with a very positive start to the Club Academy Scotland Fixtures, have made him a thoroughly deserved winner of August’s Award. Corey spent a long spell of last season out through injury and has worked hard and been very determined to get up to full fitness for the new season. Corey is another young player at the club who can play in numerous positions, but at the moment is performing to this high standard in a defensive role.

DARREN HYNES
TALENT OF THE MONTH
Darren has been in outstanding form for the U17s, and captained the team to win the St Andrews tournament. Has also been involved with the U20s over the last few weeks, regularly participating in training sessions, traveling to Austria for the U20 pre-season training camp and playing in pre-season friendlies. Darren has also and made a couple of substitute appearances in the SPFL Development League against St Mirren and Dundee United.
