Statoil announcement on REDTV

11 December 2014

AFC Vice-chairman George Yule and Gunnar Breivik, managing director Statoil Production U.K. Limited spoke to the media at today’s announcement

“I am delighted to announce the completion of a long term partnership with Statoil who will become the Aberdeen FC Talent Partner involved with the promotion and development of Elite young talent at the club.

“Statoil through their Heroes of Tomorrow campaign are supporting three areas. One being sport, not just football, one being science and education and the other one being culture.

“They are relatively new to Aberdeen but have committed to being here long term, building some fantastic new offices just outside the city.

“From the clubs point of view their long term support allows us to deliver our vision for the future for the development of young players from this area. It is great news for the club, it is fantastic having a global energy giant such as Statoil committed to supporting the club and being part of the AFC family.

“The importance of the Youth Academy at all clubs but especially this one cannot be over overemphasised. We have some real ambitions to develop the Academy beyond what it is just now.

“We are on a bit of a journey just now at the club in all areas and this is a very important area for us.”
