AFCCT Inaugural Dinner Success
On Tuesday 25th November 2014, Aberdeen FC Community Trust held a Fundraising Dinner at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa. A total in excess £22,000 (so far) has been raised.
All the money raised will be used to develop and deliver community programmes in the North East of Scotland, designed to provide Support and Opportunity to change lives for the better.
The dinner was the first fundraising event organised by the club’s partner charity since the appointment of the new AFCCT Fundraising and Business Development Coordinator Debra Christie. Prior to her arrival at Pittodrie Debra was part of the fundraising team at CLAN Cancer Support for nearly 7 years.
The event was a complete sell out, with sponsorship generously provided by Stewart Milne Group, Technip UK Ltd, Apache North Sea, Balmoral Offshore Engineering and EIS.
MC for the night was AFC’s very own Dave Macdermid who skilfully ensured the evening ran very smoothly.
The night consisted of two Q&A sessions, the first involving AFC Chairman Stewart Milne, Vice-Chairman George Yule and the Chair of the AFCCT Board of Trustees Duncan Skinner.
This was followed by a Q&A with first team players Russell Anderson, Barry Robson, Andy Considine. Questions aimed at the players ranged from who had the worst dress sense at the club – Shay Logan mentioned by all three – to what their plans were after their football careers. Everyone really enjoyed hearing from the lads and it made for a very interesting discussion.
AFCCT extend a huge thanks to Russell, Barry and Andy for coming along, as well as everyone who represented Aberdeen FC at the event including the management team Derek McInnes and Tony Docherty.
The auctioneer Alex Fleming skilfully raised as much money as possible for local good causes and he was followed by Glasgow based comedian Des Clarke who had the crowd all going home with smiles on their face after some excellent observational comedy looking at the difference between Aberdeen and Glasgow.
The fantastic total raised will go a long way to making a huge difference to people’s lives in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland, and allows the Community Trust to help the people who need help the most in society today. Whether they are 3, 33, or 93 years old, Aberdeen FC Community Trust will always look to do the right thing in order to help as many people as possible.
Thanks to everyone who contributed to making the evening a huge success here’s to 2015 being a great year on and off the park for Aberdeen FC and Aberdeen FC Community Trust.
