Adam Rooney on REDTV

23 November 2014

Adam Rooney spoke to REDTV after scoring his 14th goal of the season

“The main thing this afternoon was the three points. It was not a classic but the win was the most important thing. That is all we focussed on.

“I thought it was a corner leading up to the penalty. It was a great strike from Cammy from about 50 yards! My goal in the first half, I did give the defender a little push so the decision was fair enough. Sometimes you get away with them, sometimes you don’t. Their keeper Paul Gallacher has made a great save in the second half from my header. I did not think he was getting to it so he has done very well to get a hand to it. He also went the right way for the penalty but thankfully it has gone in. I was just focussed on getting a good strike which I did.

“We were all very disappointed after the Celtic game because we felt it was a game we could have won in the second half and got the three points, instead we have landed up losing and getting nothing. We were all looking forward to this game to get back on target and we have done that. We are better off at this stage compared to last season which is a positive and I believe there is still a lot more to come from us.

“Taking the Celtic game out of it, we have had four 1-0 wins in the last five or six games which is a sign of a good team. We can keep clean sheets and be solid and we know there are always goals in us.

“I am pleased with 14 goals for the season so far. The goals early in the season were nice and gave me confidence and thankfully they have kept on coming. The most important thing though is the team and as a team we just keep winning games.

“I was really pleased for Kieran Gibbons making his debut today. He is a great lad and really popular around the club.”
