Quotes from the Managers Post Match media conference:

“I think the better team won, although it wasn’t emphatic in terms of the result with the chances we created it could have been three or four. We passed up opportunities to get that second goal and if that goal came it would have taken a bit of spirit out of a Hamilton side that I hold in very high regard.

“In terms of creating chances it was a top performance. We might have lost some individual battles down there in the league game but tonight the winners were in our dressing room.

“Brown had one save to make when Andreu peeled out onto his right side when we were a bit untidy with clearing but over the course of the match we were difficult to play against not giving away too many chances while still carrying that goal threat. We scored a good goal but we had four or five moves after that where we were unlucky not to score another goal.

“It’s not always about work rate, we worked hard in the game down there and Hamilton are about more than that, it has taken a strong performance from us to win tonight.
“Every team when they get to the last eight will fancy their chances of getting to the Final, it’s another game where we haven’t conceded a goal. We haven’t conceded in the League Cup since we came in.

“We are proud of what we achieved last season but we want to be sitting here next season having retained the trophy or having won another trophy.

“We are just glad to be in the Semi Final, I think any team in the last four will fancy their chances. There are four decent sides in the Semi Final and we will be a tough opponent for whoever we come up against.

“Peter (Pawlett) took a kick on his calf in the first half, I don’t think it is anything too serious but I haven’t seen him since the game finished.”
