Afc Player Of The Year Dinner 2014
the winners …..
The Third AFC Player of the Year Dinner, sponsored by Universal Inspection (UK) Ltd took place this evening at the AECC.
This AFC Player of the Year award for 2013/14 went to Mark Reynolds.
The award was voted by the Red Army through RedTV and AFC’S local radio partner Northsound. Voting was close this year with a good number of players in contention but the Dons central defender came out on top.
After receiving the award, sponsored by ACE/ DGM and presented by Terry Cobban Senior, Mark spoke exclusively to RedTV
“I am absolutely delighted.
“There were a lot of contenders this season because we have had a successful year. I am so pleased the fans have voted for me. I was surprised. There were ateast four or five players who could have won the award tonight and there could have been no argument.
“We have won our first trophy for 19 years, we are pushing for second place so it have been a massive turnaround. To do that we have need players to step up their games and everyone has done that.
“It is a great honour because it has been voted for by the fans. I would like to say a massive thanks to them. The fans make the club. They are the lifeblood of football so it is great to get the recognition from them.
“Hopefully it is the first of a view awards and I will be in contention for a number of years to come. I am staying for a while, although I have only got four years of my contract left now! So I will need to see about getting an extension!
“The whole season has been a very enjoyable journey and now it is down to one game.
“Sunday is massive. If you had said at the start of the season that we would have a shoot-out for second place in our final game I would have bitten your arm off for it.
“Whoever is the better team on the day will claim the second spot. Motherwell have had a very consistent season once again and it will be a very tough game.
“Motherwell will need to come up here and try and win the match so it will be an open game of football.
“Hopefully we can get the win and finish the season on a high.”
