Aberdeen FC is this morning delighted to announce Cammy Smith has signed a new contract that will now see him remain with the Club until the summer of 2017.
The versatile youngster, who has made 9 appearances for the first team this season, made his debut for the Dons against Saturday’s opponents Inverness CT in April 2012. Last season Cammy also scored his first senior goal against ICT.

“Obviously I am over the moon to sign. I did not need a lot of convincing. As soon as the manager pulled me aside I said yes almost straight away. My family and I are delighted and honoured to be part of this football club and hopefully I can help bring success to Aberdeen.
“I was never tempted to look down south. It was a no brainer to stay here and to try and progress and play regular first team football. I really enjoy working with Derek and Tony.
“I think the whole city is excited about what is happening here. As players though we need to just keep our heads down and keep working hard and let you (the media) do all the talking.
“Everything has gone so quickly since I arrived here as a young boy. I know how fortunate I am to be a professional footballer and how lucky I am to be at this club. I never take my job for granted.”

“I think it is terrific news. I am delighted Cammy sees his future with us long term. To get a young boy signed up who is full of potential is good news for the club. In the next three and a half years he has the chance to develop and be a really good player.
“In the first U20s game I took in before I had even taken over officially I thought Cammy was very impressive. He has done very well for me when he has played in the first team.
“The thing you really want from young players is application.
“There are a lot of young players with talent but to make it you need more than that to have a career in football. You need to make a sacrifice, show application, dedication for the job, an eagerness to improve your strengths and your weaknesses and we see that in Cammy. He has got areas in his game that he needs to improve but he has a really good work ethic and is desperate to be the player we all know he can be.”
