An AFC U16 team in action

Defending champions Motherwell will face English Premiership side Sunderland in their opening match in this month’s Denis Law Soccer Tournament which gets underway at Aberdeen Sports Village on Thursday 18^th July. The Aberdeen U16s are also in this group.

The pair have been drawn in Group A along with Inverness Caley Thistle and the Dons with Celtic, Dundee, Sheffield United and local representatives Albion Boys Club in Group B of the Under 16 tournament.

Sunderland were last in the Granite City three years ago at the 30^th Aberdeen International Football Festival when winger George Honeyman was named player of the tournament while Motherwell emerged victorious twelve months ago, defeating Dundee in the final.

The first games of the four day event will kick off at noon on the Thursday with the final scheduled for the Village at 2.30 pm on the Sunday (21^st).
