Jim Crawford Honoured With Prestigious Aberdeen Sports Award
AFC stalwart receives lifetime achievement accolade
Jim Crawford, a stalwart of Aberdeen Football Club for more than a quarter of a century and responsible for literally thousands of individuals of all ages and abilities being introduced to the game of football, was recognised at 2013 Sport Aberdeen Sports Awards Ceremony by the lifting the prestigious lifetime achievement accolade presented by Lord Provost George Adam and Fred Dalgarno, Chair of Sport Aberdeen.
Jim’s extensive work in the community has seen him introduce and develop a large football participation programme which involves football coaching opportunities for 3 year olds right through to adults in various football and non-football related activities and although now in semi-retirement he continues to work as Aberdeen FC’s skills coach to develop the technical ability and creativity in youngsters from all over the region at the AFC Advanced Centres – an initiative designed and delivered by Jim himself.
Receiving the accolade came as a shock to Jim, “I heard the introduction and thought I must know this guy before realising it was me who was being introduced! It’s a real honour and I’m really humbled to be recognised in this way and it’s as much a reflection of the great team at Pittodrie as it is on myself.”
Everyone at Aberdeen FC is thrilled to see Jim recognised for the outstanding contribution he has made to our local community. An honour truly deserved.
