the midfielder speaks to redweb

Nicky Low spoke to RedWeb after the game today. The young midfielder came on at half-time and helped turn the game in the Dons favour.

“In the end it was a good point after going down to 10 men. It was already a hard game as they were fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table and they knew a win would take it to another week but the boys dug in well.

“Saying that we were confident we could get the three points today and when I came on a half time I was still confident I could help the side get the three points so it was a little disappointing we did not win the game but with 10 men it was always going to be an uphill struggle although we did have a few half chances to win it.

“The most important thing was not to lose the game. We are unbeaten under the new manager and we want to keep that record going. We want to remain unbeaten as long as possible. I think we are looking a threat now going forward and we are defending well.

“I thought I did ok when I came on. Hopefully I will get another chance next week. I will be honest, it was getting a little frustrating as I have had to wait quite a long time to get my chance at first team level but I knew if I kept playing well for the U20s I would get my chance eventually. The gaffer spoke to me when he came in and he was very positive. He said I would get a chance and he stuck to his word and gave me my chance after half time. As I say I thought I did ok and did not let him down and hopefully I will get more opportunities.

“I have done well at U20 level over the years but it is a higher standard that is needed to come in and play in the first team and to remain there. It is up to me to show the manager and everyone that I can play at this level.

“When I came on I wanted to give the team a little spark. Everyone worked hard in the second half especially when we went down to ten men. We knew we were up against it so we needed to battle. The battling qualities we showed is a positive we can take away from the game.

“The fans were very supportive towards me today and I appreciate that. The fans have always given me good backing, even when I am away from the pitch as well. All I can do in return is give 100% and give my all every time I pull on the Aberdeen jersey.”
