The club were saddened to learn of the passing of former player Ian Lister last week. Ian was a Scotland youth international born in Kirkcaldy on 1st January 1948. After signing from Smeaton Boys Club on 4th October 1963, Lister went on to play 22 games for the Dons, scoring two goals. Ian made his first team debut against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on 19th October 1963.

In 1966 Aberdeen manager sold Lister to his native Raith Rovers and after one season he moved on to Dunfermline as cover for established Alex Edwards. It was during his spell at East End Park that he became part of Dunfermline folklore when he scored a penalty in the 1968 Scottish Cup Final win over Hearts.

Ian later went on to play for St Mirren, Raith and Berwick Rangers before joining Caledonian in the Highland League in 1974.
