The Red Army

“Thursday is a huge day for us. A huge game as well. To get fans back into the stadium is amazing because it has been so long since we have played in front of a crowd.

“The fans have been brilliant, still buying season tickets even although they were not able to get in and watch last season. So a big thank you to them for that. Hopefully we can get a good result to make them happy.

“I think fans will be excited to get back into the games this season. To come along to the game with their kids and family. Hopefully we can play good attractive football for them to watch and win plenty of games so they keep coming back each week.

“I would love to have had a full crowd there on Thursday, especially with it being a European game. It is small steps at the moment. It will be a great game and a huge occasion and one I will cherish because it is my first game in an Aberdeen strip in front of the Red Army.

“This is a huge club and we want to start off as well as we possibly can.

“Looking forward to it, as are all the lads in the changing room.”

Europe

“I will try and push us through this qualifying round because we have a great history at this football club. We have two stars above the jersey.

“We want to be part of that history and we want to keep pushing this club forward. It is important we show the new lads what it means. The players who have been at the club for a long time know what it is all about. They know what is means to play in Europe for Aberdeen and to challenge for domestic cups.

“I enjoy speaking to Neil Simpson about all his experiences and to Stephen about his time here as a player. It has been great learning about the club.”

BK Hacken

“Hacken will be two difficult games. They have just got a new manager. They are hitting a bit of form. We have watched them a lot recently. They have started to set up a bit differently under the new manager. They are coming into the game on the back of three good results. So they will be confident.

“We are looking forward to the challenge. They will sit quite deep and try and hit us on the counterattack. We need to make sure that we are ready and focused and switched on when we are attacking. We need to make sure we get a good result at home. Swedish teams are always well organised and they work hard. They have a togetherness. Hopefully we have enough in the dressing room to get through this tie.”

Captain

“Joe is still club captain.

“Joe has done a fantastic job at this club and he will continue to do a fantastic job. He is a great goalkeeper and a great person as well. All the lads really look up to him and everyone at the club has so much respect for him. Joe is great about the changing room and with the management team, as well as with all the staff round about the club. Everyone loves him.

“He has been really good towards me and we get on great.

“On the pitch, I will be the one who is hopefully a little further forward that Joe! And therefore more vocal and in the middle of the park so everyone can hear me. It is just about trying to dictate the play and use my experience to help out the team because we have quite a lot of younger players.”

New Players

“Of the new players, Christian will score goals.

“So will JET. The two of them will cause problems. They are physical and they will hold the ball up. They also have nice soft feet so they will create chances because they are starting to play well together. If they do get that chance to play together, I am sure it is something they will relish.

“Teddy has come in from Brighton and he has looked very good. he is young, he is keen and he can see a pass.

“Jack has come from America along with Stephen and the manager knows a lot about him. He has got great energy.

“Declan as we all know has been in the Scotland squad and everyone knows how good he has been.”
