The Manager did his weekly press conference on Friday ahead of the game against Ross County. He gave an update on the Scott Wright situation.
“There is no update from our side with regards to Scott Wright.
“There were conversations at the start of the week at board level and I also spoke to Steven Gerrard, I spoke to our chairman last night but there has been no further conversations on either front.
“I am quite calm about the situation. Scott is calm. He is keen to play and we are keen for him to play. It is the same with any of our players. Wherever they have got six months to go on their contract as Scott has, or whenever they have four years, we are always looking for a right offer and the right offer for the club and that hasn’t changed.
“There have been discussions about how a good deal would look for Aberdeen and for Rangers. Whether it is players involved or a fee involved. That is up to the board to see what that looks like.
“I don’t want to lose him, but I have resigned myself to it. Scott was the first player I was allowed to make an offer to and engage with after all of the wage deferrals and cuts. That shows you the importance to us and we are trying to protect our asset.
“Scott is an important part of the team and we don’t want to lose important players when we still have so much to play for. We are going into the second half of the season and we want to improve as we go along, and we need as many good players available to us and Scott is one of those. It is not in our interests to lose a good player but if we do then it has to be a good offer.”
