“We had to dig in. Obviously Joe bailed us out early in the game and it could have made it more difficult that it was, but thankfully he saved the penalty and kept it at 0-0. It was a battle after that with both teams flying into tackles and both had changes.

“We both had chances, but it’s one of these things that on another day we could have scored.

“I didn’t fancy the 50 yarder today.

“It’s going to be a great atmosphere on Tuesday and hopefully it’s sold out. With the point today, it keeps us in second place and a point ahead of Rangers. A win will put us in a good position going into Celtic.

“We’ve kept three clean sheets in the last three games and we just needed to put the ball in at the other end.

“We want to right a few wrongs on Tuesday. There’s massive benefits of finishing second and the potential of an extra week off. That’s important because the last three years after finishing second we’ve only had three weeks off so the chance to make it four or five makes a massive difference to the boys in terms of recovery. The manager has talked about being able to plan a proper pre-season rather than being rushed.

“We’ve had chances against Rangers and we’ve just not taken then. We’ve conceded sloppy goals, so we just need to put the ball in the net at the other end and be more compact at the back, so we don’t give away as many chances.

“Joe’s had another great season for us and its moments like that where he stands up and helps the team out. If we go 1-0 behind you never know we might be sitting here level on points with Hibs, but thankfully we’re still in second place.

“I’m gutted I’m suspended for the Celtic game, but it’s one of these things that happens so hopefully on Tuesday we go out and get the business done and I’ll have played my part in the last couple of games.

“It’s all about righting wrongs and we’ve not felt we’ve performed well enough against Rangers this season. It will be screaming at us on Tuesday to go and get that win.
