Rangers Pre Match | Kenny McLean

“I am very pleased to have got my future secured. It has been spoken about recently so it is good to get it sorted. The way it has worked out with me coming back here is ideal.

“It has been at the back of mind so it was pleasing to get it sorted so I can concentrate on my football here during the second half of the season. It is perfect for me and ideal for everyone I think.
“We got things done quite quickly so it has not been too much of a distraction.

“Norwich are not in a bad league position at the moment but it will be a tough ask for them to get to the play-off places. It is not impossible so I will obviously keep a close eye on how they are doing but my focus will be on Aberdeen of course.

“I wanted to come back to Aberdeen to help the team finish the season as strongly as we can. Getting to the Scottish Cup final would be a great way for me to finish my Aberdeen career but it will be tough. We have a difficult tie against Dundee United and then still have two more games to win after that. But for now we will just focus on the league.

“We did not do ourselves justice in the two games against Rangers this season. We know that. It was completely down to the players on the pitch. We take full responsibility for that. I honestly don’t think the speculation surrounding the manager affected the performances. We are the ones who can put it right and we have a chance to do that tomorrow. It will be a great game to be involved and it is one we are looking forward to after two disappointing results and performances against Rangers.

“It is tough to put your finger on exactly what went wrong when we played at Ibrox last time. We prepared well like we do every game but for whatever reason we did not perform on the day. It does happen during a season. You can’t perform the way you want every week even although that is what we strive to do. Unfortunately, it was a massive game that we did not turn up in. It is in the past and we have a chance to put things right.

“I do think we will be playing a stronger Rangers side. I think they have made some good signings but in our changing room we have confidence in what we can do and the quality we have got. We feel we can get the job done.

“We go there stronger with Niall in the squad. We saw flashes on Saturday of what he can do. He is an excellent addition at this stage of the season.

“We are all professionals. We have to deal with things during our careers. I am sure the manager will deal with (going to Ibrox) as well as he needs to. We have a job to do on the pitch. The manager has a job to put the right team out to do that job. We will go there confident.”
