Paul Sheerin spoke to RedTV after today’s 1-0 defeat to Dundee.

“I cannot take anything away from Dundee in terms of how they went about their business.

“I can say that there was a lack of urgency from us at times.

“It was a game that did not seem to matter to some of them and that is the frustrating thing from my point of view. We did not do enough to ask questions of them.

“When you have got big Sam up there you do not want to go long all the time, but he dis win headers several times and no one was gambling off him and making runs in behind.

“Just a really frustrating afternoon, especially with the magnitude of the game in terms of going and trying to a league.

“I know that winning the Development League is not the be all and end all, it is about developing players – but when you are in amongst it you still want to go and win it.

“Boys will go away tonight and think, did I do enough? And a lot of them did not.

“I thought we started the game ok but once they got on top it is difficult to get yourself going and we never found that extra gear to match them up and get closer to them in certain areas of the pitch. Once that sets in it is difficult to get out of that mindset. That was the way it seemed for the bulk of the game.

“It was a penalty in my opinion. The referee deemed it to be an aerial challenge. If there is an aerial challenge anywhere else on the pitch with that follow through, it is a foul all day long and the goalkeeper has followed through and taken out Sam.

“The penalty might have given us a lift and injection that we clearly needed throughout the game.

“But that aside we still have not done enough in the game to earn anything. We did not deserve anything out of the game today.

“Our main focus is now on the Youth Cup Final. The other semi-final between Celtic and Hibs I believe is now on Thursday, so we won’t be playing Celtic in the Development League this week.
