Aberdeen Women are back in action on Sunday as they travel to Glasgow to take on Rangers. The game will be played at Ibrox, the first time the Rangers professional women side have played there. The sides met a month ago at Pittodrie when the away side ran out 2-0 winners. The Dons are currently fifth in the Park’s Motor Group SWPL1, two points clear of Spartans, who have a game in hand.

Lauren Gordon and Donna Paterson both previewed the game at Ibrox. You can also watch the previews on RedTV by clicking on the red button.

Lauren Gordon:

“It is a massive game, we played them at Pittodrie recently. We will be looking to give them a good match again, we did really and we were proud of our performance at Pittodrie. We are looking to do the same again on Sunday.

“We matched them pretty well, we limited their chances and we had a few ourselves. We will be looking to get forward and not to just sit in against them. Hopefully we will get a big crowd on both sides. It is a great experience and especially for women’s football, playing in front of that many people. I know both teams will be looking forward to it.

“It is always a tough one against Rangers, they are full of quality all over the pitch with internationalists. It is going to be tough and we now how tough it will be, we have played them a few times this season, we know what we can do to hurt them in a couple of areas and how to stop them.

“We came back in on Tuesday to training after Sunday’s defeat and we were still disappointed. We did a bit of work looking back on Sunday. The intensity since our loss has been high, everybody has been working really hard to prove a point that this is not us and hopefully going into Sunday we can prove everybody wrong.

“In this league you don’t have time to dwell on losses, the games come fast and the next one is always as tough as the last one. It is part of the learning experience. You need to give a reaction and hopefully we can do that on Sunday.

“Our aim is to still finish fifth, it would be amazing to do that. We set our goals at the start of the season and if we were to say then that we would be sitting fifth now we would have taken it. We just need to keep on working hard, it is in our hands, we have got a few games, it could go either way. We need to work hard for it.

Donna Paterson:

“I am looking forward to it. We played them at Pittodrie and we had our fans there, so it will be a different challenge with their fans at Ibrox. Hopefully we can take the experience from Pittodrie and put it into this Sunday and give them a good game.

“We did a bit of analysis on last Sunday’s game but it is in the past now. We are looking forward to Ibrox and the upcoming games. It was a difficult defeat and tough to take, we know it could have been a 100 times better. Hopefully we can bounce back on Sunday.

“There are a lot of young ones in the team who are maybe not used to losing as they have had back to back promotions. It is a learning curve for everybody in the team to have that wee knock back so we can refocus and go again.

“We will do all that we can to finish in the top half of the table. It is a tough run of games, we will take each one as it comes and hopefully we can finish in the top half.”
