“Hugely disappointing afternoon.

“That is how we are feeling now.

“We put so much into it and worked so hard off the ball and I thought we were good going forward. We controlled parts of the game but ultimately two deflections and a bad back pass has cost us.

“Against Celtic if you make mistakes they score goals but I still think we can take away positives from the game.

“There were some good individual performances and some good passages of play. But at the moment I am just hugely disappointed with the result.

“It was not intentional to sit off them in the second half (unlike the first half). It was just the way the game flowed. We had a lot of energy and high pressed in the first half but were deflated with the goal just before half time. We came out in the second half and did not start the way we wanted to. We let them have the ascendancy although I felt we were still taking the ball and still creating chances. The second goal then completely saps us. If we had scored to make it 1—1 we would have got a huge lift and it would have been a different game. When the second goal goes in like that, after working so hard, then you start feeling it. When boys start dropping off then it really is an uphill battle.

“I think if we had taken our chances and got it back to 1-1 it is a completely different game. I thought today we played well for large parts of it, but if you come here and don’t get any breaks then it is tough.

“For the second goal the ball has come in late. Arnie was tracking back and he was not going to get a toe on it so rightly so leaves it for me. It was a last-ditch reaction header but was going out for a corner 99 times out of a 1000 until it hits Kari and could not have fallen any better for Jonny.

“Our recent record against Celtic is not something we think about. Looking at the game today they have not battered us. I think we can compete with them and we have gone toe to toe with them for large parts of the game. If you reserve the roles, if we got that little deflection or break and the ball lands in the net then it is a different game.

“We feel good about our performance despite losing 3-0. We just did not get any luck.

“I think we acquitted ourselves a lot better than we did against Celtic at Pittodrie. We gave a better showing and we can at least take some positives away from the game. Luckily we don’t have a chance to dwell on it. The games are coming thick and fast and we move onto the next game now. We will focus on trying to get six points from the next two games which will set us up nicely for the winter break.”
