“Sir Alex is obviously a legend here and throughout the world of football. I don’t think there’s much to say about it, but everybody hopes he gets well as soon as possible and everybody is thinking about him and his family. As I say he’s a legend and we’ll all be thinking about him.

“It’s excellent to be involved in games like this. This is the games you want to be involved in. The split has worked excellently for the league this year and for us it’s in our own hands if we go and do well in our next two games and finish where we want to finish. It’s been a good season up to now and we can make it a great one.

“We have claimed second position the last couple of years, but it’s been tougher this season and to still be there is excellent. People have been going on about other teams in the league and how well they’ve done like Killie and Hibs, but at the end of the day they’re behind us at this moment in time. We need to look after ourselves and as I say it’s in our own hands to finish second and that’s the aim for this team.

“It is a huge appointment for them and I’m sure it will give them a lift, but it’s nothing to do with us. We look after ourselves and we know we’ve got the quality in our squad to go and beat Rangers. We’ll aim to get three points and that will put us four points clear of Rangers. That’s the aim and the only aim we can have going into this game.

“We’ve not turned up against Rangers this season and not done well enough. To still have an opportunity to put that right is excellent and it will be the biggest game of them all, no doubt about it. I think it’s good we’ve had disappointments because we need to put something right and put the record straight.

“I want to go out on a high. I’ve had a good few years here and I want to finish second and getting the right result will go a long way to doing that. That’s massive for the team but it will be great for me as well.

“I think working under the manager and staff they’ve really brought me on as a player. They’ve took my game to the next level and season by season I think I have improved. My stats have improved so it’s been great for me the last three and a half years and I’m going onto something new and a new chapter in my career, which I’m looking forward to. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

“This season is maybe coming to an end too soon for me. I’ve been chipping in with some goals and assists and been an integral part of the team for the past couple of years. Now I do have a bit of form and I just need to take it into these last two games and give everything I can for the team.

“The main thing for me was to come here and improve as a player and I have done I feel. It’s been a success and it has been a good few years. We’ve finished second every year before now and I’ll look to hopefully doing that again. I can look back on it and it is really good. It’s set me up and this is the right time for me to move on and go try something new. I’m going to a really tough league, but I think being here the last couple of years has really helped me as a player and a person in every aspect of my game.

“As I said earlier I think the results previously this season will go in our favour because we know what we need to do to win the game. We need to leave everything out there on the pitch and I don’t think that’s happened the last few games. It’s excellent we’ve got this opportunity to put things right and show we are the second best team in the country.”
