Bouncing back from Motherwell

“It can serve as a kick up the backside and a reminder of what we need to do going into the games.”

Thoughts on the cup final

“I think everyone feels fine in the build-up and we’re trying to make it as normal a week as we can.
The weather’s not been great for getting good quality training in, but that can’t be helped and we’ll do our best we can with the wind and the rain that’s been coming down. Training’s been enjoyable and the lads have lifted themselves well after the weekend and we’re really looking forward to Sunday. Hopefully we can put in a strong performance and win the cup.
The lads in the changing room are very confident. We know what we need to do and there’s certain things we need to do on the day and we’ll speak more about specifics later on in the week.

“Last time we played Celtic we had a very competitive game and we still have the recent memory of beating them at the end of last season as well. We can take the positives and confidence from that into the game.”

Underdog tag

“You can’t control what other people are thinking in the build up to the game and I think we probably went into the semi-finals as underdogs as well. We have always had the confidence and belief amongst ourselves, but you just had the feeling that there was people that weren’t so confident in us. We went there and performed well and it’s nothing new for us. Most teams that play Celtic go into the game as underdogs, but we know what we’ve got to do to try win the game.”

Journey to the final

“We’ve got a lot of confidence and haven’t conceded a goal yet in the competition. It is something as a goalkeeper you take great pride in. We had a difficult trip to Hibs at Easter Road and that was a tough game, but we stood up physically to that and we battled and earned the clean sheet. The penalty shoot-out was the first one I have been involved in during my senior career. Like taking a penalty you need to be decisive, go with your conviction. I have a decent enough record of saving penalties (during games).

“We did the same against Rangers and have put in strong defensive displays and we’ll need another one of them on Sunday and we’re confident we can deliver it.

“Yes, it would be great to get another clean sheet on Sunday but I would also take a 6-5 victory!”

Being a Winner

“I am really hungry to be a winner with Aberdeen. It is something you want to be part of.

“You walk through the corridors and you see Aberdeen’s been a very successful club in it’s history and we want to be part of that history. To do that you need to win trophies. You don’t go down in the history of a club like Aberdeen by being the team that finished second or got to finals. Yes, it’s an achievement to get there, but if you want to be remembered and as a team we do, you’ve got to win trophies and that’s what we are aiming to do.”
