“Defensively I thought we did really well. They’ve got a couple of decent players up top – Brophy is always a handful and he didn’t have a shot. We defended very well – we just needed more going forward. I felt we were a bit slow to anticipate where the ball was going to drop and a little bit reactive rather than proactive in trying to make things happen and we’ve got find that spark from somewhere going forward.
“A game like today can be frustrating for everyone because you see Kilmarnock not flying at the start of the season. But when you come here it’s always going to be a battle and difficult especially in dry weather on a plastic pitch, the ball is slow and it allows teams to get behind the ball a bit quicker.
“You need to be a bit more on the front foot than what we were and a bit more reactive, just watching the ball and waiting for things to happen rather than taking the game by the scruff of the neck and making it happen.
“As for defensively (and it was a shame that Scott had to go off) I thought Andy again was excellent and Zak came on against a difficult striker in Brophy. I think Zak will learn a lot from the game as well but defensively we were comfortable and got a first league clean sheet of the season which is a positive obviously, but we need to be delivering a bit more in the offensive side of it.”
