“It’s a difficult task. We’re not expecting it to be simple, but we’ve got the belief that we can go on and get that result that we need to secure second place. It would be a great way to end the season.

“Even in Europe you have teams going to Celtic Park and it’s a big ask for them and that’s teams with a lot bigger budgets than us. We’ve got to go and test Celtic, so we know it’s a big ask and they’ve got some very good players and a strong squad so whichever team they put out is going to be a strong team and a good test for us. We’ve got players that can hurt any team on their day too and we need to make sure we’re at our best. If we’re not at our best, then there’s always the risk of getting turned over. We need to make sure we’re firing on all cylinders to make sure we can get any sort of result.

“I would have thought so (Celtic with one eye on the cup final). They’re good players and professional with strength and depth so if their manager decides to rest one or two players they’ll be bringing in quality as well. I’m sure everyone will be fighting to get into the starting eleven for their cup final as well, so I can’t imagine they’ll let themselves get lulled into that party mode quite yet.

“There’s an expectation amongst ourselves to go and put a performance in. There’ll be a good following from our fans and it’s still a massive game for everyone involved at the football club. Perhaps from a sense that is European football confirmed it’s a relief to have that in the bag, but it doesn’t take away from the motivation we’ve got to go down there and get the three points.

“Hopefully Hibs can do us a favour, but we can’t leave the results to other teams. We’ve got second place at the moment and we aim to keep that. Hopefully we can control our own fate by getting three points.

“Belief is a big thing for any team going to Celtic Park. You’ve got to believe you can get the result and I think some teams will go down there and say the right things like we are now, but you must really believe you can do it.

“Words don’t mean anything, and you need to go and show it. Be brave on the pitch, not in terms of sticking your body on the line, but in terms of getting on the ball and maybe trying risky passes that you would normally need to make to get a result at a good team. We’re playing Celtic on their patch and bravery and belief is a key thing to getting a result.

“It’s how everyone here wants to finish the season. They’ll be picking up the trophy and enjoying their day, but we need to maybe spoil that party a little bit and make sure we keep our fate in our own hands. To finish second would be a big achievement and something the football club should be proud of. We need to make sure we get that and go into the summer feeling good about ourselves and on a high to start next season.

“The away support at this club is phenomenal and always travel in great numbers. The home fans as well, but I think in particular the away fans. It’s a long distance and they spend money on tickets to get down to Glasgow or Edinburgh etc and there’s not many close games for us. To get the numbers we get at away games is phenomenal and it would be a fitting way to repay that a little bit and finish the season on a high for players and fans alike.”
