“It was an amazing evening. For the team to come back in extra time and go on and win it like we did was brilliant. We are into the semi-finals and that is what we came here to do.

“I have a good record of saving penalties. Hopefully that will something that stays with me during my career. I feel confident and that comes from my track record of saving them.

“Although I enjoy penalties, as most keepers do, I was hopeful we could win it in normal time. As soon as the whistle went at the end of extra time my mind started focusing on the job I had to do.

“People say there is no pressure on goalkeepers in that situation but that is not the case. I want to win and get to a semi-final.

“Our boys have done well to score ours. They were top quality.

“I was also confident because I had done my homework.

“I would not say it helped me having played with some of the Killie guys last season.

“I have played in a few finals now, so I would love to get back to another one, especially at Hampden. I remember when I first came to Scotland I drove past Hampden, it looks a great stadium. if I get the chance to play there then I will be delighted. I am just pleased I have helped my team reach the semi-finals.

“Football is about winning and winning trophies.

“When you get to the end of your career you want to have medals to show off.

“Going to Hampden without Kenny, Graeme and Shay is a big blow but we have a good squad. Since I have been here you can see that in training. Everyone is a good player, everyone is top quality, so we have guys who can come into the side. Hopefully we can get to the final for the three lads who are missing.

“It was one of those games where I felt one goal was going to win it. When they scored in extra time we had an uphill battle. It was a bad time to concede. Extra time passes very quickly. You don’t see a lot of teams coming back after going behind in extra time. We felt Shay was fouled so all the boys were very disappointed in the manner the goal we conceded.

“So we showed great character to get back into the game.

“We then got ourselves back into it quite quickly which was really important. Kenny showed great composure to tuck away the penalty. I thought we looked the more likely team to win once we equalised. We had the momentum.

“A win can lift any side. You could see at the end how much it meant to the fans and all the players. As players we want to win every single match. We can hopefully now build some momentum and kick on in the league.
