”What a way to get off the mark!
“What a way to make my league debut at home.
“To score a late winner, you can’t get better than that.
“I had a bit of a joke yesterday with the manager. I was sitting next to Andrew Considine, the manager asked how many goals he had scored for Aberdeen, then asked me how many I had scored!
“It is nice to finally get off the mark. It would have been nice to have some more by now but at least I am off the mark now which is good.
“The position I took up, that is where I need to be when the crosses come into the area. Luckily I found myself in that position and in space. I got my shot away and it went in.”
“I think the crowd certainly got their money’s worth. The game had everything. Goals, red cards; it was just nice to come away from it with three points.
“Two quick fire goals against us made it tough. From watching on I felt that they were against the run of play.
“It is never nice to go 2-1 down, from two quick goals.
“As a team we picked ourselves up. As a team we dug deep and showed what we can do, and to win it like that, was not a bad way to win it.”
“The red card came from a quick counterattack. Niall McGinn beat his man for pace and got taken down. We then get the penalty from that free kick. It was good quick thinking between Niall and myself.
“Sam Cosgrove stuck it away as he does, and I always felt we could get the winner against ten men.
“Greg has come in the last two games and slotted into the side really well. You can see what he can bring to the team – with the goal on Thursday and his assist for the winner today. His crossing ability is very good. It was also a great touch from McGinn, it showed the quality that he has. I have been very impressed with the ability that he has since I have come in.
“The ball fell nicely for me and luckily it has hit the back of the net.”
“You could feel the crowd almost sucking the ball into the net.
“The crowd definitely played their part. You could sense them getting behind us and we really felt them willing a goal in at that end. The players on the pitch reacted well to that. After the sending off I felt we dominated the game and when it went to 2-2 we believed that we could get a winner.
“It is always nice to celebrate with the fans, even if I did get a yellow card for it. Emotions kind of took over.”
“As a squad hopefully we will have a few back on Thursday and hopefully there are not any serious knocks from today. We are going into the game in a positive frame of mind.
“It is a great dressing room to be part of. We are all looking forward to Thursday now and we want to get as far as we can in that competition as well as picking up three points in the league.”
“I have spoken to the boys who played the last time Aberdeen meet Rijeka a couple of seasons back. I think they were unbeaten for a long time so hopefully we can go there and do the same.”
