Graeme Shinnie | Partick Post Match

“It was a very tough game against Partick Thistle.

“We always knew it would be. It was one of those games when we were getting a bit frustrated. We wanted to play some football. It was a bit stop start and we could not get the ball moving. It wasn’t happening at times, so you could see everyone getting a bit frustrated but going into the second half it was just a case of making sure we got a goal, got the three points and got out with the win.

“It was a typical Adam Rooney goal! It was brilliant play by Ryan. I was coming in at the edge of the area screaming at him because I thought he had maybe ran down a blind alley. Thankfully Adam did what Adam has been doing since I have been here. He is always in the right place at the right time, to make sure the ball comes off his shin guard and goes in!

“We set out at the start of the game to get a clean sheet. We knew going out in the second half if we got the goal it would probably be enough but to be fair the boys defended well at the end.

“It was important win. It was important to come out with the win on a tough night.

“When you look at some of the stats for 2017 it has been a good year and we have put ourselves in another good position but we want to finish the year with a win. Then we have a big job to do in the new year as we want to keep building.

“It is quite a similar situation we are in compared with last year when we went down to play at Tynecastle at the end of December. We want to get the three points on Saturday and then there is a big second half of the season coming up.

“It has been a good start to the season and we have put ourselves in a good position but it is really important to finish with a win and then we can all enjoy our break.”
