“Regarding the injury, it is all good.

“I have done a few weeks of running now and I feel back to normal. Hopefully it stays that way and I can get a few games in pre-season and take it from there.

“It was so frustrating. The hardest part was not knowing the time scales involved.

“All the staff would have seen me about the club looking glum faced. It was probably the hardest time of my career so far. I am just glad it is behind me now and I can concrete on my football next season.

“It is tough being out so long and makes you appreciate the game.

“Over the summer Graeme Kirk our sports scientist has given me a programme to get me back to full fitness. It means I can hopefully hit the ground running in Cork.

“Last season I think I was only fit for about four games which is not ideal. This is a big season for me coming up and as I say I just can’t wait to get back playing again.

“Hopefully I can help the team provide a creative spark. I like to get on the ball and create opportunities and score goals. That is my game. Hopefully I can get minutes on the pitch so I can show what I can do.

“I have played with Connor since I was eight years of age. I am delighted for him. I have always said Connor is one of the best up and coming talents in Scotland. It is great to see him doing well because we are also good mates off the pitch as well. All these players, Connor, Dean and Bruce, you are happy for them but at the same time you are wishing it was you. Hopefully that is me next season.

“I am still only 21 so have plenty of years ahead of me. I am still young so there is still time for me to develop and get more minutes out on the pitch.

“The best moment of my career was scoring against Rangers, although the result wasn’t so good. It is hard to believe that it was over two years ago. Hopefully I can have more moments like that next season.

“Celtic did us a big favour at the weekend. I am buzzing to be back in Europe because there is nothing better as a player than playing in these games. It has been brilliant just to be part of the squad in recent years in the Europa League. It is something every player wants to do in their career and hopefully I get a chance to do it.”
