“I am delighted to get everything sorted.

“It has been a mad few days, but I am delighted to finally get up here and get everything arranged.

“I am looking forward to the future.

“It has been a little bit of a frustrating season for me at Sunderland.

“There has been highs and lows over the last year. I have some great memories there and met a lot of good people. This year though has been a bit frustrating, especially over the last few months.

“It will be good to get back out onto the pitch and go and kick on again and get a good run of games.

“It means a lot knowing the manager has been interested in me before.

“It was a big part of my decision to come up here.

“I have spoken to Derek a few times over the years, before I moved down south, he was on the phone trying to get me to sign for Aberdeen, but I had my heart set on going down to England.

“When I heard he was still interested I was delighted, and we are finally able to work together.

“I want success at Aberdeen.

“The club has been up there over the last few years and we want to do that again; we want to be up there at the top of the table.

“Cup runs as well would be great and to bring a cup home would be key for the club as well and myself.

“I hope I can get back into the shop window for the Scotland squad.

“But for me the near future is just about playing games, enjoying my football again, hopefully doing well, bring success to the club and then if the international scene came back up, I would be happy with that as well.

“I wanted to sign before the Dubai training camp so I could get away and meet the players and staff.

“It will be good to get a week’s training in with the lads. It makes it easier coming back and breaking into the team. It will be a good week for us.

“Cormack Park looks great. I have only had a quick look around, but it looks brilliant.

“A club this size needed a good training ground and we have definitely got that.”
