“We feel he’s came a long way in the last six months or so and we now feel he’s a very confident player. He feels like a first team player and hopefully we can see the benefit of that in the next few years. It’s always important for us as a club to secure our best young ones and Scott is certainly that.

“With big Scott McKenna it was something similar. He was always one we wanted to work with and I always felt he would find his way and he’s done exceptionally well the last few games. Once again, I’m absolutely delighted for him to extend. He was just as quick to agreeing and both lads have a real affection for the club and see this as the right place to learn. Although both are not the finished article, there’s enough there to suggest that they are going to do very well for us.

“I think Greg Tansey will be fit for Celtic, which is brilliant for him and reinforces the decision we made to get him the surgery when we did. He’s missed a couple of games, but with the international break he hasn’t missed too much. He’s been on the training pitch doing work with the physios and he’s now come back into full training. We are delighted to get him back with us so we are good to go. Obviously, we have a few training days to get through and things can happen. Andy (Considine) is fit as he was touch and go for the Hibs game and it was a late call, but the decision to give him that extra week to ten days has been the right decision.

“I’m sure it will be a full house by the time kick off rolls around and so it should be. It’s a game with two teams doing particularly well at the start of the season. They are the team that everybody must try and beat and they’ve been fantastic over the period, staying unbeaten domestically, which is no mean feat and shows us the task we have.

“Every game, regardless if we are playing the team at the top of the league or the bottom we’ve got to try and make sure we are happy with our own performance and approach to it. Hopefully we are good enough on the night to get the desired result. The intention is to try and win the game of course and some challenges are more difficult than others. This is certainly the toughest challenge we face.

“We feel we are going into the game in a good place with a few clean sheets, scoring goals and some of the individual performances are getting to where we want to be. Although it has been a bit stop-start this season we starting to get into a rhythm and semblance of consistency from each and every one of them.”
