Captains Column | Joe Lewis on RedTV

With the countdown on to the return of domestic football this weekend, Joe Lewis spoke to the Red Matchday editor today for Saturday’s column and you can hear from him on RedTV now by clicking the red button.

“It has been a bit of an up and down campaign so far. There have been some poor performances and some very good performances. So the key going forward is going to be trying to get that consistency.

“In the games we have struggled, for whatever reason, the energy and intensity was not quite there. You can never quite put your finger on why it is not happening. But in the Ross County game you could see the pressing all over the park and that ultimately has got us the win, as well as the good finishes.

“We have to base all our performances on that same tempo and aggression.

“I do feel looking at the last performance and also from what I see in training, the lads are starting to get a feel for one another.

“Going into the international break with two clean as well as a good performance was pleasing. The cleansheets were few are far between so it was nice to get two back to back and also limit the opposition in both games to very few chances.

“Defensively I feel that we have got some momentum and we should have confidence as a defensive unit. At the other end Sam has scored ten in ten, so he is feeling confident. So we should go into this game on Saturday with plenty of confidence and be on the front foot.”
